About Us

The Harwich Fire Association is a not-for-profit, benevolent organization consisting of active and retired firefighters whose mission, since 1929, is to complement the work of the Harwich Fire Department, support its firefighters, and promote goodwill throughout the community.

The challenges facing firefighters grow and change constantly. Throughout the years, the role of firefighters has changed from simply extinguishing fires to so much more. Our firefighters are tasked with providing Emergency Medical Services, technical rescue, water rescue, hazardous material responses, and so much more.

Money for specialized training and development of our public safety professionals is limited which is where the Harwich Fire Association spends much of its funds. This year members attended hands-on classes such as advanced underwater rescue, vehicle extrication, advanced forcible entry, machinery rescue techniques, and search and rescue amongst others, paid in part or fully, by the Harwich Fire Association.

We also assist members in furthering their own education by partially funding college classes that enable our members to attain Associate, Bachelor, and even Masters's level degrees in emergency services-related fields. This education, in turn, makes for a more well-rounded group of first responders.

Additionally, the Fire Association annually distributes scholarships to graduating High School seniors from both Monomoy Regional High School and Cape Cod Regional Technical High School.

The Harwich Fire Association takes great pride in the service we provide to our community and we look to continue carrying on this tradition into the future. We are extremely grateful for the support and generosity we have received from the friends of the Harwich Fire Association through the years because without your support, none of what we do would be possible.
